"Digger"
APHA # 938,395
Chestnut Tobiano Colt born
May 10, 2008
For Sale
Digger is just a really
extraordinary colt! He has a terrific disposition and is very quick to learn. He
has so much character and a great sense of humor... just like his sire. He has
always been polite and respectful on the halter, but when he's with his
friends... he's a real show-off! If there is going to be a 'rodeo', race and
playtime, Digger will be the instigator!
He has a nice head and very
expressive eyes. When we first weaned him, he always had a worried look that
would give us a chuckle. He stayed very close to us on the lead as if the
'boogie man' was out to get him! Anything that scared him, we went over and
checked it out. It didn't take long to build his confidence. Now he thinks he's
THE MAN... and he's not afraid of too much. He checks everything out!
Digger has excellent conformation to
go with that rich chestnut color. He has lovely markings. Ron took one look at
him and said, "He's got more cat tracks than a litter pan!" I guess that it
would depend on how many cats you have, but Digger sure has a lot of paw prints.
With good conformation, a champion
pedigree and super disposition, Digger should make a very nice stallion
prospect.
He has a nice mix of cow horse and
speed and should prove to be very versatile and athletic.
Digger has a Champion pedigree... 5
Time APHA National Champion Q Ton Eagle is just off his papers, and Doc Bar,
Poco Bueno and AQHA's # 1 Leading Sire of Champions, Two Eyed Jack, are in his
5th generation.
With these great horses plus
Hall of Famers, he boasts 8x Three Bars, 7x Poco Bueno, 12x King, 3x Leo,
4x Joe Reed II, 11x Joe Reed, 19x Plaudit, 11x Joe Hancock, Royal King, Sugar
Bars. His pedigree also includes 4x Skipper W and 2x to Sirlette as well as many
more AQHA and APHA Champions.
Update:
Digger has been tested and is
homozygous for the tobiano gene. That means that he will always sire a colored
foal. He also tested homozygous for the Agouti gene (AA). When bred to a sorrel
or chestnut mare, you will always get a sorrel or chestnut tobiano foal, but
when bred to a black-based mare, the foal will be either bay or brown in the
absence of any color modifying genes in the mare. He will never sire a black.
