Welcome to our 'just for fun' page! We have always wanted miniature donkeys...

and so we'd like to share our pictures with you.  Thanks for taking the time to look!

"JACK BE NIMBLE of POPLAR FARMS" aka "TUCKER" is our grey dun jack. Just 32.5 inches tall, he is a real character! He loves carrots, bread and a good scratch!  He doesn't think much of Alberta weather and is the first to let us know when it is raining, snowing, too windy, too hot, etc!

 Sophie - "Sophia Loren eyes"

"TINY TRINKET OF WEE BRAY" aka "SOPHIE" is a Foundation Registered Miniature Grey-Dun jennet. She is just 31 1/2" tall.  Sophie believes that she runs the place...and she may be right! She usually gets free run of the barn, even though she has a new pen. Like her boyfriend, she doesn't think much of rain and bad weather. She will not hesitate to step up into the tack room, if the door gets left open, and help herself to whatever is edible. Oats are stored in large Rubbermaid containers, but the cat food is usually readily available. It is left out for "the barn cats" (you know the ones who are supposed to catch and eat mice). She thinks cat food is okay munching...like popcorn! So, since we are pretty sure cat food can't be a healthy choice for donkeys, and it costs more than oats...we now have a cat door on the tack room - the Kitchen is CLOSED!

THE STORY OF THE DONKEY’S CROSS

“Bring me the colt of a donkey” was the Master’s request.

A young donkey was brought to Jesus to carry him into Jerusalem.

A week later Jesus was ordered crucified.

The little donkey so loved the Lord that he wanted to help him carry the cross.

But alas, he was pushed away. The sad little donkey waited to say goodbye

until nearly everyone had left. As he turned to leave, the shadow of the cross

fell upon his back and shoulders. And there it has remained as a tribute to the

loyalty and love of the humblest of God’s creatures.
