Black Tobiano Colt
born July 3, 2007
For Sale
Update - Fonzi has been
tested for Herda and is n/n. He was also tested and is homozygous for the black color and
heterozygous for the tobiano gene.
This striking colt arrived
after what seemed a long, long wait - and on our anniversary! What a nice treat!
He made both Lacy's and our day happier... so we had to name him Fonzi! He
knows he's good looking and wasted no time on strutting his stuff! Lacy is very
proud of him... (so are we!)
We used to think that Belted
Galloway cattle were just really cool. We never got into that, but now we have
the perfect cowhorse to go with that breed! LOL! It's too bad that there is not
more of them around. Aside from the white belt, complete with the paint drizzle
and spots, Fonzi has a sweet little head, and nice conformation.
He is going to be very athletic. As with all of Lacy's foals, they are just
people friendly and willing to please. With his
pedigree, he has the potential to go in many directions. He will mature in the
14.2 hh range.
His sire is
Poco Diego, our bay
tovero stallion. Lacy is his grand dam. Lacy is double line bred Poco Bueno and
Diego is her grand son out of Friday Night Disco. We have put our best horses
together on this little guy. Fonzi has a 'Royal' pedigree with several Champions, World
Champions, and Hall of Famers, including 9x Poco Bueno, 14x King and 8x Three
Bars.
Update
Oct 18th
-
Fonzi is now weaned and learning to
halter. We do not imprint train and these following pictures are Fonzi's big
introduction to the halter and handling. It took about 10 minutes to be able to
rub him all over and then I let him sniff the rope. He took it in his mouth and
swung it back and forth, so I put it around his neck. Fonzi is most definitely
the easiest weanling we have ever had to work with. Day 2 - He was picking up
his feet for us!
Fonzi continues to be just
the sweetest, laid back little fellow we have had. He gets haltered daily to go
outside for the day and is leading nicely. He has never put a foot wrong,
or tried to misbehave at all. Fonzi can only get his nose over the stall door,
so in the morning, he sticks it out as far as possible and nickers very softly
to make sure we know he's ready to go. Once outside and with his buddies, he can
really kick up his heels and put on a show! While he is laid back and well
behaved with us, he doesn't let the others bully him around at all. We have
looked all over the Internet to try to find a black tobiano colt with Poco Bueno
and Doc Bar near the front and they are very rare! Hopefully, we will have more
in the spring, but I doubt that we will be lucky enough to get another colt with
his wonderful disposition. Don't miss the opportunity to come have a look at
this guy! I have not
added pictures as he is in his 'winter woolies'.
Update
June 17th, 2008
- Fonzi is just coming a year
old! He has caught up to his buddy Turbo for size and they are spending their
time eating, sleeping and growing! They take turns being the leader and share
everything like little gentlemen. It is ONLY JUNE in Alberta and Fonzi
has finally shedded out most of his heavy winter coat. There are still some
brown areas where we're still working on it. Fonzi is still easy to catch...
well, he actually catches us! He likes a hug and a scratch!
Update Feb 23, 2009
- Fonzi is coming 2 this
July. He has a very heavy winter coat that really does not flatter him at all.
If you can see past the fuzz, you will find a pretty fancy boy underneath it
all.

We will be adding more photos - so
please check back.
