While we were hoping for a buckskin, we sure aren't disappointed with this little lady. With the white legs and rear, she looks much better as a black than she would have if she had inherited that cream gene! At this point, she looks like she will be black rather than a smoky black.

We had planned on bringing Twister in to foal near the house, but she was so content with having her buddies Gypsy and Shiloh with her, that we thought it was less stressful on her to leave her with the mares and just check on her out in the pasture. She did a great job! Twister hasn't learned all the things the old mares know, so that takes some time. She brought her baby right in to eat with her buddies...of course Gypsy 'looks' like the same color as Mom...so Jamila followed her. Newborn foals don't have really good eyesight, Gypsy wasn't too keen on that idea, so Ron went and got her back beside her mom and kept her busy while Twister had her supper. The older, seasoned mares will stand off a little ways as they know we will bring the hay to them. Once Twister has to chase after her baby a few times, she'll clue in! Just like humans - it's a learning process.

I don't know who is entertaining who? Ron was trying to keep her occupied while Twister gabbed a few mouthfuls of hay. Jamila wanted her supper too!

Twister has a nice laid back attitude that we are sure she will pass on to her foal. She also has a super pedigree that really compliments Monty's! We knew when we saw her that this was a great addition to our mare band.

Root Beer Doc by Doc's Prescription by Doc Bar, Poco Tivio by Poco Bueno, King, Sugar Bars, King Leo Bar, Depth Charge, Coy's Bonanza, The Ole Man, Shock Em, Royal King, Top Deck, Old Tom Cat, Steel Bars, Good, Eternal Sun, Leolita, Hard Twist and Cowboy P-12... and many more great horses can be found in this sweet fillie's pedigree.

We have no doubts that this little lady will be athletic.  She is also going to be very versatile - from halter and western pleasure to reining and working cowhorse events. Jamila will finish in the 14.2 -15hh range.

Jamila is 5 weeks old and enjoying a bit of sunshine - June 26th.
