APHA # pending Blue Roan Tobiano Filly born May 1, 2010

This lovely little filly has been a long time coming. It seemed to take us forever to choose a blue roan mare that had the bloodlines that we were looking for. We think we made a good choice when we purchased Jackies Bar On Fire. The people who sold her to us just called her Blue and she knew her name, so there was no need to change it. She's a nice mare to have in the band... she's an easy keeper, good hard feet and she gets along with everyone. Blue has an excellent pedigree to boot. On the top side, she's double bred Two Eyed Jack, AQHA's #1 All-Time Leading Sire of Champions, mixed with Skipper W, Question Mark, Joe Reed and King. On the bottom are the great cowhorse lines of Peppy San, Poco Bueno, Driftwood Ike, the famous roping horse by Driftwood, and Magnolia Bar, the famous barrel horse sire and son of Three Bars. We can't forget Joe Hancock as well. When we bred Blue to Royal Apache Tears we knew we would get a colored foal that should be well worth the wait. We think she is! Blue roan tobianos are hard to find. It would be interesting to know just how many are registered in APHA every year. We thought she was going to have at least one blue eye as they were a nice blue color at birth but have since darkened to a soft chocolate brown. Pepper is not going to be a tall horse like her sire but should finish about 14.2 and built like a tank. We think that the combination of the rare color and great cowhorse pedigree will make this little gal a real asset to any paint breeding program.
It's hard to get a good picture of the blue eye color. Her eyes have since darkened.
