"Whats The Commotion"          aka "Shamus"

Brown / Bay Tobiano Colt      APHA # 938,310

   Born: April 27, 2008

 Check out  Shamus' Pedigree

This is Royal Pocomotion's first baby and what a knock out he is. Tall, straight and everything where it should be. Shamus' sire is our solid brown stallion, Lovin R Poco Royal. Together they have created this stunning colt with both Doc Bar and Poco Bueno just off his papers. His  bloodlines include 16x King, 7x Three Bars, 9x Poco Bueno, 10x Leo, 3x Top Deck, 2x Royal King, 2xSteel Bars, 2x Old Tom Cat, Joe Hancock, Hollywood Gold, Go Man Go, Good, Eternal Sun, Leolita, Hard Twist, Cowboy P-12 and Bold Ruler (TB). A good mix of cow horse and speed should make this fellow very athletic. He should finish about 15 - 15.2 hh.

The 'Highjackers' - 'Granny Peaches' in the rear; Raven in front!

What a time we had! We went out to Passing Wind Pond to feed and found three mares in a huddle around this little sleepy bundle of joy! This is Spirit's first baby and he arrived early. Of course, Spirit is new to all this and wasn't sure what to expect. So, "Granny Peaches" stepped in and tried her best to kidnap him - with the help of half-sister Raven running defense for her! Spirit was definitely out-numbered and a bit stressed but was hesitant to chase her dam or sister away. She is a sweet, gentle mare and is lower down on the 'pecking order' so she is not used to family quarrels. So, with me for a referee, Ron gave a good shoulder check as he stepped in and picked up the bundle with the intent to make it through the pasture gate for a touch down. He's getting kinda old for these games, and while he didn't fumble, he did have to put Shamus down for a minute or two to catch his breath. Shamus is a good size colt! The high jacking attempts continued all the way across the pasture to the to the barn gate, but once through we finally got Momma and baby together for a well earned rest before we took them up to the barn. "Granny Peaches" pined away at the gate for a while and then decided she might just as well go eat! I guess she thinks he's pretty special and... and well. so do we! Spirit is learning to be a good mother and after a few days of bonding we hope they'll be able to return to the herd where, if we're lucky, the 'high jackers' will have turned into good 'babysitters'!

Just a few hours old. It feels sooo...good to stretch those legs!

Spirit really checks her baby over well on the first day.Shamus is 4 days old and like to run!
